The New York City Bar Association is hiring a Controller to oversee daily accounting and finance operations in a hybrid Midtown, NY setting. The role manages a team, ensures GAAP and fund accounting compliance, and collaborates with auditors and the CFO.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, 8–12 years of accounting experience including 3–5 years in management, and nonprofit accounting experience. Salary ranges between $130,000 and $140,000 with generous benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
• 8–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including management roles.
• At least 5 years nonprofit accounting experience; strong GAAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily accounting and finance operations; ensure accurate financial records.
• Supervise four accounting staff; mentor and review deliverables.
• Lead monthly close; prepare financial statements and budget variances.
• Coordinate year-end close, audits, and tax filings (Forms 990, 1120, CT-13).
• Support CFO with financial analysis, system maintenance, and special projects.
