Job summary

Waikiki Health is seeking a full-time Controller in Honolulu, HI to support the CFO in GL accounting, financial reporting, and analysis within a nonprofit healthcare setting.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance with 5-7+ years of accounting experience, including 2-3 years in a leadership capacity. CPA or Master's preferred. Strong grant compliance knowledge and proficiency with accounting software are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• CPA designation or Master’s degree (MAcc, MBA, or Finance) preferred.
• 5-7+ years of progressive accounting experience with 2-3 years in a leadership role.
• Deep nonprofit accounting knowledge (GAAP/FASB), fund accounting, and bank reconciliations.
• Grant compliance experience with HRSA guidelines, OMB Uniform Guidance, and Single Audits.
• Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements and manage budgets; support audits.
• Advanced proficiency with specialized accounting software systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist the CFO in GL accounting management and financial reporting.
• Provide financial analysis for internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and mentor finance staff; train department employees.
• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and policies.
• Oversee accounts payable processing and bank reconciliations.
• Support annual audit processes and grant reporting.
• Manage daily banking activities and cash flow.
