Job summary

Hawai'i Association Of Independent Schools seeks a Controller to support the Director of Finance in maximizing asset returns and ensuring compliance with GAAP and nonprofit standards. The role manages daily Business Office operations including accounting, AR/AP, fixed assets, inventory, cash management and risk.

Candidates should have a bachelor's in accounting (CPA preferred), at least five years in accounting with three in supervision, and nonprofit/education experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university; CPA preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement fiscal policies, goals, procedures, and controls.
• Ensure legal and regulatory compliance for accounting and reporting.
• Oversee cost/general accounting, AR/AP, fixed assets, inventory, and risk management.
• Coordinate annual audits with the Director of Finance and auditors.
• Lead and supervise the Business Office staff and budgeting processes.
• Maintain timely reporting of financial transactions.
