Job summary

La Familia seeks a Cook to prepare nutritious family-style meals for up to 50 residents at FESCO’s Hayward facility. You’ll work Thursday through Monday, 12:30pm–6:00pm, assist with menu planning, shop for groceries, and transport meals to the emergency shelter site.

Maintain a safe, clean kitchen and support food safety standards. Responsibilities include serving meals, coordinating with staff and volunteers, and contributing to a welcoming environment while upholding the agency’s mission and

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Must possess a current ServSafe food safety certification.
CPR and First Aid certification preferred or required within 30 days.

Responsibilities

Prepare and serve breakfast and dinner as scheduled at the Banyan central kitchen.
Grocery shop and Food Bank pick-ups.
Deliver meals ready for family-style service and suitable for children.
Set up dining room and food preparation area.
Maintain kitchen area per shift checklist and ensure sanitary practices.
Direct staff, volunteers and residents regarding food service.
