Job summary

WithumSmith+Brown, PC is seeking a Not-for-Profit Audit Senior to lead engagement teams from planning to completion, including supervising staff and maintaining client relationships. The role involves nonprofit attest procedures and collaboration with managers and partners to resolve issues, with a focus on trade and membership organizations.

Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, CPA or CPA eligibility, and 2–3 years in public accounting with leadership experience.

• Excellent analytical, technical, and auditing skills including familiarity with US GAAP.
• Exceptional client service and communication skills with client relationships.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements in a fast-paced team environment.
• Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills with effective governance communication.
• Analytical, organizational, project management skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of IRS Form 990/990T and related state returns (not required).
• Knowledge of CCH audit tool (not required).

Responsibilities

• Lead the engagement staff on planning and execution of audit, review or compilation engagements.
• Oversee day-to-day operations of the audit engagement from staffing to conclusion.
• Provide supervision and support to engagement staff and maintain open communication with manager and partner.
• Perform and oversee attest procedures specific to nonprofits, focusing on trade and membership organizations.
• Collaborate with managers and partners on client issue resolution and regulatory matters.
• Review schedules and non-scheduled general ledger accounts for accurate entries.
• Manage multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to meet deadlines.
• Create and track engagement budgets and identify inefficiencies.
• Conduct discussions with team members on evaluations and provide counsel.
• Serve as instructor or discussion leader in professional development programs.
