Job summary

The Visiting Nurse Health Services in Omaha, NE is seeking an Accounting Specialist to support accurate, timely accounting and payroll operations for VNA and Easterseals Nebraska (ESN).

In this role, you will prepare and analyze financial information, complete general ledger activities and account reconciliations, process payroll, maintain supporting documentation, and contribute to financial, regulatory, statistical, and management reporting.

Qualifications

• Two or more years of accounting experience, including accounts payable and payroll.
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration with an accounting specialization preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience with Medicare regulations, nonprofit accounting, grant accounting, payroll, or grant reporting is helpful.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with ADP and NetSuite is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Prepare general ledger entries, reconcile accounts, and support financial statements and regulatory reporting.
• Review invoices, process payments, maintain vendor records, and manage accounts receivable/payable.
• Process payroll accurately and on schedule, including deductions, taxes, and benefits.
• Assist with month-end close, audits, payroll tax filings, and year-end reporting.
• Coordinate payroll changes with HR and department leaders; respond to payroll inquiries.
