Job summary

California Environmental Voters seeks an Accounting Manager to lead the monthly close, grant tracking, and reporting across four California offices. This hands-on role partners with the Finance Director and program leads to keep finances accurate and transparent.

The position offers a four-day work week (two in office, two remote) with occasional five-day peaks, and a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) with employer match.

Qualifications

• Solid nonprofit accounting experience (4+ years) in finance.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field is required.
• Experience owning or substantially supporting a monthly close.
• Experience with grant accounting and reporting to funders.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close, grant tracking, and reporting.
• Oversee outsourced bookkeeping and payroll partnerships.
• Prepare monthly budget-to-actuals for departments, projects, and grants.
• Support year-end filings and Form 990 preparation.
• Collaborate with the Finance Director and program leads.
