California Environmental Voters seeks a Staff Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting, including AP/AR and reconciliations, as the organization brings accounting in-house. Reporting to the Accounting Manager, you’ll collaborate across four CA offices during a transition period to build robust financial processes.

Qualifications

• Bookkeeping or accounting experience: about two years or more handling payables, receivables, and reconciliations.
• System fluency with QuickBooks Online or similar; working knowledge of Excel.
• Attention to detail is essential to avoid errors at close and audit.
• Timeliness and follow-through to keep invoices and reimbursements moving.
• Ability to work patiently with colleagues who do not have finance background.

Responsibilities

• Handle day-to-day accounting including AP/AR, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Support staff and vendors; be first contact for expense coding and reimbursements.
• Assist with monthly close and reporting; maintain coding across grants and entities.
• Identify and implement process improvements; support system setup and cleanups.
