Job summary

Because Children Matter, LLC (BCM) in Compton, CA is seeking an Accounting Clerk to provide essential financial support. The role requires accuracy, confidentiality, and strong QuickBooks Online (QBO) skills in a fast-paced nonprofit setting.

You will process AP/AR, enter and review transactions in QBO, assist with payroll documentation, and support monthly close, audits, and grants reporting. This onsite, non-exempt position offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online is required.
• Strong Excel, Word, Outlook and electronic document management experience.
• Two years of accounting experience in a fast-paced environment.
• Nonprofit or government-funded experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
• Enter, review, and maintain financial transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Review invoices, receipts, purchase documentation, and other supporting records for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist with vendor setup, records, and payment processing.
• Reconcile accounts and assist in researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate and well-organized electronic fiscal records.
• Assist with payroll documentation and related accounting functions, as requested.
• Support monthly and year-end closing activities.
• Prepare basic accounting reports, schedules, and spreadsheets.
• Assist with documentation for audits, monitoring reviews, grants, contracts, and other fiscal reporting requirements.
• Utilize cloud-based technology and electronic systems to efficiently manage accounting workflows and records.
• Maintain the confidentiality of financial, employee, vendor, client, and organizational information.
• Provide additional accounting and administrative fiscal support as needed.
