Company Overview

This client is a well-established manufacturer operating within the aerospace supply chain, producing highly engineered precision components that must meet strict customer and regulatory quality standards. The organization has been investing heavily in its facility, including significant capital expenditures in advanced inspection equipment, signaling long-term growth and commitment to quality excellence. This client operates within a structured quality management framework and serves major aerospace OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers, making compliance, documentation, and technical precision central to everything they do. The team is collaborative and process-driven, with a culture that values open communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement. This is a stable, tenured environment where the right candidate will have the opportunity to grow alongside meaningful infrastructure investment.

Must-Haves

  • Level III NDT certification eligibility: either a four-year technical degree OR a minimum of five (5) years of experience as a certified Level II NDT inspector
  • Documented training records supporting NDT experience (up to 100+ pages of training documentation may be required to support certification)
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following NDT techniques: eddy current testing, chemical processing, or fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI)
  • Quality management system (QMS) experience, preferably AS9100; ISO 9001 experience will be considered
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
  • Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to ask questions, adapt, and engage openly rather than operate in isolation

Plusses

  • Active Level III NDT certification (ASNT or equivalent)
  • Prior experience at aerospace suppliers or manufacturers such as Schaeffler, Timken Aerospace, New Hampshire Ball Bearing, GE Aviation, Pratt & Whitney, or Rolls-Royce
  • Familiarity with customer-specific NDT requirements in the aerospace sector
  • Demonstrated passion for nondestructive testing as a career discipline
  • Experience reviewing and applying customer quality requirements
  • Willingness to consider relocation (relocation assistance may be available for the right candidate)

Day-to-Day

The ideal candidate is a technically driven NDT professional who is passionate about nondestructive testing and eager to grow into or further develop within a Level III role. This individual will join a quality-focused team at a precision aerospace manufacturing facility, reporting directly to the Quality Manager. While there are no direct reports, this person will carry indirect responsibility for a staff of approximately 15 certified NDT inspectors — overseeing their annual practical evaluations, managing recertification cycles every three years, and developing training curriculum for new inspectors entering the program. Because the NDT program does not consume a full 40-hour workweek on its own, this role also contributes meaningfully to broader quality engineering functions, including reviewing nonconformances, supporting corrective actions, conducting internal audits, and assisting with quality control activities. The facility is currently undergoing approximately $2 million in inspection equipment investment, and this individual will play a key technical role in developing new procedures and obtaining customer approvals for that equipment — making this a high-impact, high-visibility opportunity for someone who wants to leave a lasting mark on a growing operation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and oversee the NDT certification program for approximately 15 on-site inspectors across three techniques: eddy current testing, chemical processing, and fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI)
  • Conduct annual practical evaluations to verify inspector competency
  • Administer general and specific recertification exams (multiple choice/true-false format) on a three-year cycle
  • Develop and deliver training curriculum to prepare new inspectors for certification exams
  • Monitor rejection rates and overall NDT process performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement
  • Support quality engineering functions including review of nonconformances, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation
  • Participate in internal audits and support quality management system (QMS) compliance activities
  • Collaborate with customers and suppliers to review and apply customer-specific NDT requirements
  • Develop new NDT procedures and support customer approval processes for new inspection equipment (approximately $2M in capital investment currently underway)
  • Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for the broader quality team
