Job summary

Top Prospect Group is seeking an NDT Level III Specialist in Winsted, CT. Job description

Salary: $105K depending on experience level

Position Overview

The NDT Level III Specialist will lead and maintain all on-site nondestructive testing activities, including Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection (FPI), Eddy Current Inspection (ETI), and Surface Temper Inspection (STI).

This role supports both internal operations and external suppliers by developing, qualifying, and improving NDT processes and systems. On the quality side, this person will drive process improvement, reduce variation, support customer requirements, and strengthen overall quality performance.

This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you will own NDT standards while also acting as a key Quality Engineer across the business.

Key Responsibilities
NDT Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain NDT procedures, training programs, and inspection documentation
  • Administer written and practical exams for NDT personnel
  • Make final accept or reject decisions on product evaluated through NDT methods
  • Perform internal NDT and QMS audits
  • Develop and implement equipment and process qualification protocols
  • Ensure compliance with AS, ISO, ASTM, and Nadcap requirements
Quality Engineering Responsibilities
  • Lead root cause investigations using Lean, Six Sigma, and 8D methodologies
  • Perform capability studies (Cp, Cpk), correlation studies, and MSA (GR&R)
  • Support PFMEAs, Control Plans, SPC programs, FAIs and FAIRs, and PPAP documentation
  • Review customer specifications and ensure proper technical flow-down
  • Support metrology and calibration programs
  • Track KPIs and Cost of Quality to identify trends and drive improvements
  • Conduct internal audits and follow up on corrective and preventive actions
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, cost, and lead time
  • Provide training and technical support across quality and NDT functions
