Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a Wait Staff Non-Tipped for the University of Maine at Orono. This on-call part-time role involves providing attentive service, serving a variety of items from the Sodexo menu, and maintaining professional guest relations.

You will greet guests, take orders accurately, and ensure quality and presentation. The position requires mobility, adherence to safety norms, and flexibility with shifts and responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 0–1 year related experience preferred.
• May require alcohol-service certification (TIPS/TEAM) or equivalent per state requirements.

Responsibilities

• Greet and seat guests, present menus, and introduce specials or menu changes.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations on meals, beverages, and wine, and answer questions about menu items, allergens, and preparation.
• Accurately take and relay orders to the kitchen, confirm orders with guests, and process them in the correct sequence.
• Check all items for quality and completeness, ensuring presentations are attractive and consistent.
• Monitor guest needs, respond to requests, and address concerns professionally.
• Significant walking or other mobility is required.
• Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, potentially exceeding 8 hours.
• Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
• The employee must be able to use hands to finger, handle, feel or reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to taste and smell.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions.
• Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity.
• Other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts.
