Job summary

Young World Physical Education is seeking Non-Teaching Substitutes for the 2026-27 School Year. This role offers a flexible schedule that allows you to be present at home while positively influencing the lives of Fairfield students.

You will have the opportunity to select assignments based on your availability in various roles, including monitoring students and assisting in classrooms. Positions require an Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education.

The hourly rate is $16.00 with an ESEA highly qualified endorsement, or $13.00 with a standard Educational Aide Permit.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must obtain an Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Monitor students on the school bus, at recess, or in the cafeteria.
• Assist special needs students and school bus drivers.
• Support students and teachers in classrooms.

General Description

Substitutes are able to select assignments based upon availability. Substitutes can also work in a variety of roles, including:

• Monitoring students on the school bus, at recess, or in the cafeteria
• Assisting the school bus driver with students with special needs
• Monitoring students in the before/after school Latchkey program
• Assisting students and teachers in the classrooms

Hourly Rate

$16.00 per hour holding an Educational Aide Permit with the ESEA highly qualified endorsement on permit

$13.00 per hour holding a standard Educational Aide Permit

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Training and instructions provided at the school building – no prior work experience with students is required.

To work, you must have and maintain an Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education & Workforce (ODEW). Individuals interested in applying for the ESEA endorsement on their permit will need to meet one of the following criteria:

• Hold an Associate’s degree or higher
• Have taken forty‑eight semester hours of college coursework
• Take a Paraprofessional exam

Application Procedure

Individuals that are offered a position shall be required to submit to an FBI/BCI criminal background check. Failure to satisfactorily pass the criminal background check based upon the discretion of the Board of Education will preclude an individual from employment with the Fairfield City School District.
