Wellstone is seeking a School Based Therapist to provide mental health counseling within the Cullman County school system. The role supports students by addressing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges that affect learning and well-being.

This full-time position runs Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm with opportunities for licensure reimbursement and tuition discounts through university partnerships.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or related field with an internship/practicum.
• Previous experience with children/adolescents preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient documentation skills.
• Excellent organizational skills to include suspense/timeframe management.

Responsibilities

• Provide mental health counseling services in an In-School Counseling Program within Cullman County schools.
• Perform crisis intervention and resolution as necessary.
• Perform assessments, intakes, transfers and discharges on clients.
• Manage client caseload and follow up with clients and guardians.
• Assist school personnel and parents with community referral sources.
• Monitor clients' progress toward goals.
• Obtain releases, maintain confidentiality, document in electronic chart (Treatment Plan, Progress Notes, referrals).
• Maintain billable service and productivity standards.
• Attend required training and meetings.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Job Description: The School Based Therapist works with the Cullman County school schools to ensure mental health care services and resources are available without barriers to support students and help them overcome social, emotional. and behavioral challenges that may impede their academic successes and overall well-being.
