Job summary

BP in Houston is seeking a Non-Energy Optimization Specialist to manage the retail electricity portfolio, including RA, MTR and capacity, and to hedge and optimize positions.

You will build models, support pricing, and collaborate with trading, risk, and sales teams while ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate invoicing. The role emphasizes cross-functional teamwork and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in a quantitative field such as math, statistics, economics, quantitative finance or engineering
• Mid-level experience in an analytical or commercially focused role
• Retail supply experience or similar commercial experience required
• Strong working knowledge of ISO markets and regulatory landscape (CAISO, PJM, NYISO)
• Proficiency in Excel VBA and SQL; Python highly preferred
• Experience with ETRM systems preferred

Responsibilities

• Manage retail portfolio of power-related products including RA, MTR, capacity, CRRs and future traded products
• Transact bilaterally and on exchange to hedge and optimize retail portfolio
• Manage regulatory filings for CAISO RA & MTR
• Maintain all traded non-energy curves including congestion and RA products
• Support optimization by providing transactable prices and market information to pricing, sales and customers
• Build and support models for optimization, risk, hedging strategies
• Book non-energy trades in ETRM
• Support load forecasting with exposure reporting and stress testing
• Lead variance explanations during actualization for markets/products
• Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory bodies
• Collaborate with internal teams for accurate invoicing and customer meetings
