SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
This recruitment will remain active for a period of one year, from the position opening date. If there is no longer a need to fill, the position may be closed sooner, and applicants will be notified.
This is a continuous recruitment to fill part‑time and temporary faculty assignments on an as‑needed basis. When the need to fill arises, the department will refer to this pool of part‑time faculty.

North Orange Continuing Education (NOCE) has been serving the community since 1973 with free, noncredit educational programs and services to empower our community. Students enroll in NOCE’s noncredit programs to enhance basic skills, gain employable skills, prepare for credit courses, and gain self‑sufficiency or enhance civic participation. NOCE’s noncredit programs include adult basic skills (high school diploma and literacy programs), English as a second language (ESL), U.S. citizenship, parenting, older adults, short‑term vocational, and programs for adults with disabilities.
In addition, NOCE offers a wide selection of community education courses such as Kids’ College, Teen Program, fitness, home decoration, business skills, and fine/applied arts. NOCE offers adults the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and nearly a dozen career education certificates. Tuition‑free noncredit career certificates include the areas of administrative professional, early childhood education, electrical technology, funeral service assistant, management, medical assistant, pharmacy technician, and quality assurance for medical devices.
NOCE serves more than 15,000 students annually, ranging from preschoolers to seniors, at three center locations in Anaheim, Cypress, and Wilshire (Fullerton), as well as over 100+ community‑based locations in partnership with K‑12 schools, churches, community centers, senior centers, skilled nursing facilities, and rehabilitation centers. NOCE is proudly accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges. NOCE is a stand‑alone institution, serving as the noncredit arm of the North Orange County Community College District, which also includes credit‑based Cypress College and Fullerton College. Part of the California Community College System, all NOCE courses are approved by the state of California.

Part‑time, temporary, hourly assignments are on an as‑needed basis. Various schedules and locations are available. Hours will vary depending on class(es) assigned. Most DSS classes are offered Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The award of all degrees must be verifiable on a legible transcript. If degree award date is not posted on transcript your application will be deemed incomplete and removed from consideration. Grade cards will not be accepted in lieu of transcripts. All degrees and coursework used to satisfy the required minimum qualifications must be submitted from accredited post‑secondary institutions. A bachelor's degree with one of the following majors:
Education of students with specific or multiple disabilities; special education; psychology; physical education with an emphasis in adaptive physical education; communicative disorders; rehabilitation; computer‑based education; other computer‑related majors which include coursework on adapted or assistive computer technology for students with disabilities; other majors related to providing specialized instruction or services to persons with disabilities.
OR
An associate degree with one of the majors specified above.
AND
Four years of experience providing specialized instruction or services to persons in the disability category or categories being served.
OR
Possess a valid California teaching credential authorizing service in a community college in the appropriate subject matter area.
OR
The equivalent. Equivalent qualifications may include related education, training, employment and professional experience that would be equal to the required degree(s) and experience in this field as determined by the District Equivalency Committee.
Commitment to diversity. Master’s degree in related field.
Experience teaching DSS courses for an adult education or community college institution.
Experience with curriculum development.
Commitment to examine, reflect, and modify instructional, relational, and classroom practices in order to effectively engage and support disproportionately impacted student populations with the goal of closing equity gaps.
Possession of strong computer skills and ability to learn and effectively use technology and software.
Demonstrated ability to integrate 21st century learning skills and digital literacy effectively into instruction.
Demonstrated knowledge and competency in working with individuals with disabilities including developmental disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and attention‑deficit disorder. Emphasis on individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.
Understanding of, and the ability to implement, effective online instructional strategies.
Experience teaching distance education courses, including demonstrated experience with online learning management systems (LMS) such as Canvas.
NOTE: Instructors are expected to comply with the training requirements to teach online or remotely as determined by Campus standards. Currently, NOCE instructors must possess one of the following to be eligible for an online teaching assignment:
