Job summary

Staffmark Group is hiring for a Seasonal Non-CDL Yard Hostler in Fremont, CA. The position starts at 4am with a pay rate of $27.00 per hour. This role focuses on moving trailers and supporting yard operations.

You will safely operate yard hostler equipment, position trailers at docks, couple and uncouple trailers, and perform basic inspections. The job emphasizes safety, reliability, and independent work in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of verifiable yard hostler, yard jockey, or yard goat experience within the past 3 years.
• Experience operating a yard hostler, terminal tractor, or Ottawa-style yard truck.
• Experience moving trailers in and out of dock doors.
• Ability to perform blindside backing safely and efficiently.
• Experience coupling and uncoupling trailers and handling air line connections.
• Familiarity with trailer staging, dock assignments, and yard safety procedures.
• Previous experience in a warehouse, transportation terminal, or distribution center preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a yard hostler/yard jockey truck to move trailers throughout the facility.
• Position trailers at designated dock doors, staging areas, and parking spaces.
• Couple and uncouple trailers, including connecting and disconnecting air lines.
• Perform basic pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections.
• Follow all yard safety procedures and traffic patterns.
• Communicate with dispatch and yard personnel regarding trailer movements.
• Maintain an organized and safe work environment.
• Complete trailer moves accurately and efficiently.
