Job summary

Staffmark Group is hiring for a Non-CDL Yard Hostler in Bakersfield, CA. The role starts early, with a 4:00 AM schedule and potential weekend work; pay is $25.00 per hour, with guaranteed 8 hours per shift.

You will operate a yard goat, move trailers between docks, and perform pre-trip inspections while following yard safety rules. A valid license and 6 months of yard hostling experience are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 months of verifiable Yard Hostler, Yard Jockey, Yard Goat, or Terminal Tractor experience within the past 3 years.
• Experience moving and positioning trailers in a warehouse, distribution, transportation, or logistics environment.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
• Ability to work an early morning start schedule and seasonal assignment.

Responsibilities

• Operate a yard goat to move trailers within the yard facility.
• Transport trailers between dock doors, staging areas, and designated parking locations.
• Safely couple and uncouple trailers as needed.
• Perform pre-trip equipment inspections and report any maintenance concerns.
• Follow dispatch instructions, yard traffic patterns, and operational procedures.
• Communicate effectively with operations and yard personnel.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient trailer yard.
• Complete approximately 10-15 trailer moves per shift in a low-volume yard environment.
• Support daily yard operations while maintaining productivity and safety standards
