Job summary

Dohrn Transfer Company, LLC is seeking a Full Time Non CDL Driver for the Indianapolis Terminal. Pay starts at $26.37 per hour, rising to $29.08 after the first year.

Hours are Monday–Friday, dayshift, with comprehensive benefits including health/vision/dental, 401(k) matching, life insurance and disability coverage. As a Non CDL Driver you will shuttle freight between customer locations to deliver and pick up dock-height loads, with emphasis on safety, proper lifting, and adherence to DOT

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver license and at least 3 years driving experience.
• High school completion or equivalent.
• Class C endorsement (Illinois) or #2 endorsement (Indiana).
• Must pass a DOT physical examination and functional screen.
• Must consent to a pre-employment drug screen; a negative result is required.
• No record of DUI/OWI or Reckless Driving within the past 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Non CDL vehicle safely while transporting freight between terminals.
• Load and unload vehicle, either independently or with assistance of dockworkers; may use freight handling equipment.
• Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of freight.
• Secure freight by strapping or other methods as needed.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions.
• Adhere to company policies and comply with all regulations for safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.

Pay: $26.37 per hour to start, $29.08 per hour after the first year. Hours: Monday-Friday, dayshift.

Position Summary: Driving a Non CDL vehicle between customer locations to deliver and pick up freight at dock‑height.

Essential Functions

• Drive a Non CDL vehicle safely while transporting freight between terminals.
• Load and unload vehicle, either independently or with assistance of dockworkers; mechanic freight handling equipment may be used where available and appropriate.
• Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing and carrying of freight.
• Securing freight may be required through strapping or other methods.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all Federal, State, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• A minimum age of 21.
• High school completion or equivalent.
• Valid driver license and at least 3 years driving experience.
• Class C endorsement (Illinois) or #2 endorsement (Indiana).
• Only one valid driver's license issued by the resident state of the driver. Drivers who have recently transferred must produce a copy of the former license or provide license information for verification from that state. Drivers must provide information on all licenses held within the previous 36 months.
• No record of citation or conviction of DUI/OWI or Reckless Driving within the past 5 years.
• Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Must pass a DOT physical examination and functional screen.
• Must consent to a pre‑employment drug screen; a negative result is required.
• No prior evidence of controlled substance use; a negative controlled substance and alcohol result from prior employer(s) for the past three years.
• No refusal to submit to an alcohol or controlled substance test within the past three years.
• Must consent to a 10-year work history check; gaps of 30 days or more must be listed and explained; discrepancies may prevent processing or offer withdrawal.
• Must have ability to read and write English and perform basic math calculations.
• Excellent attendance.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

• Gripping of various sizes and weights up to 100 pounds.
• Lifting up to 100 pounds from ground level to 45", lifting at waist level or 36".
• Front carry up to 100 pounds for 250 feet.
• Push/pull up to 60 pounds of horizontal force.
• Sitting up to 10 hours per day.
• Standing and walking frequently.
• Climbing, squatting, crouching, balancing, or kneeling occasionally.
• Crawling rarely.
• Reaching frequently while shifting gears, moving freight, loading and unloading trailers and turning the steering wheel and closing rear trailer doors.
• Grasping and handling frequently while loading and unloading freight, opening and closing trailer doors, turning the steering wheel, and turning hand crank to raise/lower front jacks on the trailer.
• Interaction with coworkers and customers to safely perform job functions.
• Vision used constantly during driving, reading maps, inspecting vehicle.
• Smell used occasionally to check for leaks.
• Hearing used frequently to listen for unusual sounds or warning sounds of problems with the vehicle.
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, or wetness.
• May be exposed to dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.
