Job summary

Mercy Medical Center, Springfield, MA, is seeking a Part-time Nocturnist Surgical Physician Assistant to join our Surgical Services Team. The role focuses on night coverage for general surgical patients within a busy inpatient setting and requires strong collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

The ideal candidate will have completed an accredited PA program, NCCPA certification, and MA licensure eligibility, plus DEA registration.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and eligible for Massachusetts licensure.
• Current federal DEA and MA Controlled Substance Registration required.
• NCCPA certification required.
• Experience in acute care or surgical setting or completed postgraduate surgical residency.

Responsibilities

• Provide night coverage for general surgery patients.
• Evaluate surgical patients and collaborate with multidisciplinary staff.
• Assist in perioperative management and first assist in the operating room.
• ER evaluation and admission of inpatients as needed.
