Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, seeks a per diem Physician Assistant to join the Surgical Services Team. The PA will support General Surgery services, provide inpatient and peri-operative care, and participate in ER evaluations and first assisting in the OR.

Responsibilities

• Provide per diem inpatient coverage for General Surgery services, including day and night shifts.
• Evaluate and manage surgical patients in collaboration with multidisciplinary hospital staff.
• Assist in peri-operative management and ER evaluations, admissions, and postoperative care.
• Provide first assisting in the operating room as needed.
• Contribute to patient-centered care within Trinity Health of New England Medical Group.

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusettsa member of Trinity Health of New England, the regions largest nonprofit health systemseeks per diem Physician Assistants to join our Physician Assistant Surgical Services Team.

This exciting per diem, inpatient position is ideal for a self-motivated Physician Assistant who is knowledgeable in the aspects of General Surgery and enjoys working within all of the surgical subspecialties. The duties include both day and night coverage at our modern and conveniently located Medical Center. The ideal candidate would possess the current skills to evaluate surgical patients, interact with the Multidisciplinary Hospital Staff, and assist in all aspects of patient care. This would include ER evaluation, admission and peri-operative management of in-patients for General Surgical Service, as well as first assisting in the operating room.

QUALIFCATIONS:

• Applicant must be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program who is eligible to be licensed to practice as a Certified Physician Assistant in Massachusetts.
• Current federal DEA and eligibility for Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration will be required.
• Candidate must have certification by NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
• The successful candidate should have experience in the acute care/surgical setting or completion of a Postgraduate Surgical Residency program.
