Job summary

Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, seeks a per diem Physician Assistant to join the Surgical Services Team. The PA will support General Surgery services, provide inpatient and peri-operative care, and participate in ER evaluations and first assisting in the OR.

Evening and night coverage is included. Ideal candidates are graduates of an accredited PA program with MA licensure eligibility, NCCPA certification, and current DEA/CS registrations, plus acute care or surgical

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program eligible for MA licensure.
• Current DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration required.
• NCCPA certification required.
• Experience in acute care/surgical setting or completion of a postgraduate surgical residency.

Responsibilities

• Provide per diem inpatient coverage for General Surgery services, including day and night shifts.
• Evaluate and manage surgical patients in collaboration with multidisciplinary hospital staff.
• Assist in peri-operative management and ER evaluations, admissions, and postoperative care.
• Provide first assisting in the operating room as needed.
• Contribute to patient-centered care within Trinity Health of New England Medical Group.
