Job summary

Hotwire Communications in Fort Lauderdale, FL, is seeking a NOC II Engineer to ensure network, data, video, voice and application environments run at peak performance by detecting and acting on anomalies.

Responsibilities include monitoring tools, coordinating testing and repairs, responding to alerts, diagnosing faults, maintaining documentation, and providing incident support; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in Help Desk or high-volume support.
• 4+ years in IT Operations with monitoring tools and techniques.
• 4+ years in network/server monitoring.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, ISPs, routers and Cisco protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS).
• Experience with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds or Nagios.

Responsibilities

• Monitor production network environment to ensure availability.
• Coordinate field router testing and circuit repair, intrusive and non-intrusive.
• Coordinate onsite dispatch of vendor repair services.
• Respond to automated alerts and use diagnostics to assess problems.
• Discover faults and diagnose causes; resolve expeditiously.
• Configure and maintain monitoring tools.
• Write or revise system documentation and procedures.
• Work with Engineers to resolve production problems.
• Write coherent trouble ticket notes on incidents and problems.
• Perform periodic health checks of systems.
• Answer inbound calls and provide support.
• Escalate issues per procedures and best judgment.
• Diagnose problems and resolve them expeditiously.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

The NOC II Engineer will be tasked with ensuring that network, Data, Video, Voice and application environment run at peak performance by detecting and acting on all exceptions and anomalies.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Monitor production network environment using a combination of monitoring tools to ensure availability.
• Coordinate field router intrusive and non-intrusive testing and repair of circuits.
• Coordinate onsite dispatch of Telecommunication vendor repair services.
• Respond to automated alerts from monitoring tools according to procedure. Use diagnostic tools to ascertain level and criticality of problem.
• Discover faults and conditions in a proactive manner and diagnose cause where appropriate and resolve expeditiously.
• Responsible for configuring and maintaining monitoring tools.
• May write or revise system documentation and procedures.
• Work with Engineers to resolve production problems.
• Write coherent trouble ticket notes on production incidents and problems.
• Perform periodic health checks of systems.
• Responsible for answering inbound calls and for providing support.
• Escalate issues and problems according to procedures and best judgment.
• Diagnose problems and resolve them in an expeditious manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a Help Desk or high volume call center preferred
• Minimum of 4 years of experience working in IT Operations including knowledge of common, tools, methods, and techniques
• Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible work experience in network and / or server monitoring skills
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, ISP, routers and Network Protocols (Cisco) such as OSPF, BGP, MPLS
• Specialties NOC/ Process writing skills of training a plus
• Experience in Monitoring Theory / Implementation a plus
• Experience in Customer Service.
• Experience in current Internet network hardware and software technologies.
• Diagnostic experience of a variety of monitoring applications such as SolarWinds, Nagios
