This position is Remote to work with a US Company; you will require Citizenship or a valid work permit from Costa Rica to apply for this role.

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced NOC Engineer to join a Network Operations Center engineering team responsible for supporting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving enterprise network environments.

This is a hands‑on role with a strong emphasis on technical troubleshooting, break/fix support, incident response, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless infrastructure. The ideal candidate has broad technical exposure and is comfortable diagnosing complex network issues under time constraints while maintaining a high standard of customer service.

Candidates with broad infrastructure troubleshooting experience across multiple network technologies and vendors will be especially well suited for this position.

Responsibilities
  • Support and maintain enterprise network hardware and software infrastructure according to industry best practices.
  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless access points, and WiFi controllers.
  • Design, support, and troubleshoot complex routing environments using MPLS, BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, and VRFs.
  • Design and troubleshoot switching environments involving 802.1Q VLANs, trunks, EtherChannels, Spanning Tree, DHCP Snooping, and ARP Inspection.
  • Perform advanced remote troubleshooting and break/fix support for network and infrastructure incidents.
  • Diagnose network outages, connectivity problems, performance degradation, and configuration issues, often under tight resolution timelines.
  • Provide network incident response and own technical issues through resolution.
  • Configure, administer, and troubleshoot firewalls and VPN environments across multiple platforms.
  • Support enterprise wireless infrastructure, including access points and wireless controllers.
  • Troubleshoot application connectivity across network infrastructure, VPNs, load balancers, and firewall appliances.
  • Monitor network availability, utilization, performance, and security to proactively identify potential issues.
  • Perform regular network security monitoring to identify suspicious activity or potential intrusions.
  • Participate in network security design and integration activities.
  • Analyze network usage and capacity trends, anticipate potential problems, and recommend improvements.
  • Create, maintain, and update accurate network diagrams, topology documentation, configurations, and technical procedures.
  • Clearly explain network topologies and technical solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Manage incidents, service requests, and technical tasks through established ticketing systems.
  • Collaborate with other engineers and technical teams to resolve complex infrastructure issues and improve operational practices.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging networking and security technologies through training, research, and continuous learning.
  • Participate in an on‑call rotation approximately once every nine weeks.
  • Provide occasional evening and weekend support when required.
Requirements – Must-haves
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience implementing, managing, supporting, and troubleshooting enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Strong hands‑on NOC, network support, troubleshooting, and break/fix experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience configuring and troubleshooting routers and switches.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of multiple firewall platforms, including configuration, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.
  • Hands‑on experience with routing technologies and protocols including BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, MPLS, and VRFs.
  • Strong knowledge of switching technologies including 802.1Q VLANs, trunks, EtherChannels, and Spanning Tree.
  • Understanding of network security technologies such as DHCP Snooping and ARP Inspection.
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting VPNs.
  • Experience with enterprise WiFi infrastructure, wireless access points, and controllers.
  • Experience supporting enterprise infrastructure involving fiber optic and wireless technologies.
  • Strong understanding of network and application protocols, including SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, WINS, NTP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, CIFS, LDAP, and Microsoft Active Directory.
  • Ability to troubleshoot application and protocol connectivity through VPNs, load balancers, and firewalls.
  • Experience using network monitoring and incident‑management tools.
  • Ability to understand, document, and diagram existing network environments.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to communicate effectively during technical incidents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple technical priorities.
  • Availability for the required on‑call rotation and occasional after‑hours support.
