Job summary

Bluebird Fiber is seeking a NOC Engineer to monitor the network, troubleshoot impairments, and coordinate with Field Operations. The role emphasizes strong communication, multi-system ticketing, and timely problem resolution in a 24x7 environment.

The NOC Engineer will work closely with vendors and internal teams to maintain network performance and enable rapid circuit activation. Prior NOC experience and fiber knowledge are highly valued.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year in telecommunications or related technical training.
• Experience in an NOC environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot impairments and outages with partners, vendors and customers.
• Manage and document trouble tickets across systems.
• Troubleshoot DWDM, MPLS, and SONET network equipment.
• Read and interpret CLR/DLRs and perform remote fault resolution.
• Monitor network performance after maintenance and changes.
• Coordinate circuit activations with Operations and Engineering.
• Provide network assistance to Data Center technicians.
• Communicate ticket updates and technical support to customers.
• Follow MOPs for network changes and upgrades.

Position Purpose

The purpose of the NOC Engineer is to provide customer support for Bluebird Fiber customers. Position directly monitors BBF network elements, network performance and facilities. NOC Engineers work directly with Field Operations and NOC Engineers on trouble tickets to coordinate, isolate, diagnosis, and repair issues in a timely manner. Candidates must have excellent communication skills and be able to work in multiple systems and manage multiple tickets simultaneously.

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year in telecommunications or equivalent technical training
• Minimum 1 year experience working in an NOC environment in the telecommunications industry, preferred

Skills And Abilities

• Familiarity with trouble ticking systems
• Strong customer service skills
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies.
• DWDM and/or MPLS fundamentals.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule in a 24x7 environment
• Must be able to work independently and in a team environment with minimal. guidance, while focusing on a sense of urgency for customer-impacting issues.
• Multi-task and maintain composure in a demanding work environment.
• Nokia, ADVA, Ekinops and MRV experience, preferred
• Familiarity with trouble ticking systems, preferred
• Knowledge of Fiber optic fundamentals, preferred
• Experience performing circuit testing procedures and test equipment, preferred
• Nokia, ADVA, Ekinops and MRV experience.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLILITES

• Work with LECs, IXCs, vendors, internal departments, and customers to successfully troubleshoot impairments and outages as required
• Trouble ticket management and documentation
• Troubleshooting DWDM, MPLS, and SONET network equipment
• Read and interpret CLR/DLRs
• Perform remote resolution of faults through various Network Management Systems (NMS)
• Monitor network performance after maintenance and network/DC changes
• Work closely with Operations and Engineering to ensure quick circuit activation
• Provide network assistance to Data Center technicians.
• Correspond with customers with ticket updates and technical support
• Interpret and implement MOPs for Network changes and upgrades
