Xyant Technology in Annapolis, MD is seeking a Tier 2 NOC Technician for a 6-month contract to manage incidents, monitor systems, and troubleshoot in a 24/7/365 environment. The role requires diagnosing network and system failures and ensuring high availability for critical services.

Onsite MID shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) with some weekend/holiday work, you will monitor networks, manage incidents in the tool, and train within 4–6 months across Transport, DataLink, and Applications, collaborating

Qualifications

  • AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high school training) with 1–2 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • CompTIA Network+ required; Cisco CCNA preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor high-availability networks and troubleshoot incidents.
  • Track, update, and resolve incidents in the management tool.
  • Train and qualify within 4–6 months across Transport, DataLink, and Applications.
  • Support network solution design, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with Senior Team to escalate and resolve issues.

Duration: 6 Months Contract

Hourly pay: $33/hr

Job Summary:

The Tier 2 Network Operations Center (NOC) Technician is responsible for incident management, system monitoring, and troubleshooting within a 24/7/365 operational environment.

This role diagnoses system and network failures, resolves routine-to-moderate technical queries, and ensures high availability for critical customer services.

This position operates on the MID Shift (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM) and requires working some weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Monitor high-availability IP networks, messaging systems, and Air-to-Ground data communications; engage telecom providers to drive restoral efforts.
  • Incident Management: Track, update, and resolve customer and business unit incidents in the management tool with high accuracy and attention to detail.
  • NOC Cross-Training: Successfully train and qualify this NOC position within 4–6 months:
    • Transport: Core-to-edge monitoring of routers, switches, firewalls, and circuits.
    • DataLink: Monitoring of ground stations, radios, and central processing systems.
    • Applications: Monitoring of central channels facilitating high-volume daily messaging.
  • System Optimization: Support network solutions design, deployment, configuration, and maintenance routines; help develop efficiency tools.
  • Collaboration & Escalation: Resolve less complex issues independently and partner with Senior Team Members to troubleshoot moderate-to-complex critical customer
Qualifications
Qualifications & Skills

Technical Skills: Experience troubleshooting Cisco devices and working knowledge of HSRP/BGP routing protocols and TCP/IP networking.

Operational Knowledge: Solid understanding of ITIL/ITSM concepts and practices.

Soft Skills: Exceptional customer service, sharp attention to detail, and efficient multitasking abilities (prioritizing and delegating).

Tools (Preferred): Familiarity with Remedy, Netcool, Office 365, and ServiceNow.

Education & Certifications

Education / Experience: AA/AS degree (or other 2-year post-high school training) with 1–2 years of relevant experience OR High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Required Certifications: CompTIA Network+ and Preferred Certifications: Cisco CCNA
