Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. (Required).
  • Active technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy.
  • Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program (preferred).
  • One to three years retail and/or pharmacy experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Receive prescriptions from patients and gather information per department policy; assist in preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies.
  • Verify insurance and resolve issues to serve the customer; address third-party questions including prior authorizations and price checks.
  • Process new and refill prescriptions in the computer system quickly and accurately; enter refill requests and complex prescriptions.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the computer system; use the reporting system as needed; process special orders.
  • Respond to internal and external questions professionally; handle cash register transactions quickly and accurately.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by the manager; assist with scheduling, inventory, and training as needed.
  • Assist under pharmacist direction to resolve patient medication issues; provide staff training on processes.
  • Deliver medications and supplies to patient care areas; maintain a clean, stocked pharmacy.

Job Overview

Fairview is looking for Pharmacy Technicians to join our float department!

Enjoy working with a demographic variety of staff and clientele in this outstanding opportunity with Fairview Pharmacy Services’ float department! You will be exposed to many different areas and aspects of Fairview Pharmacy Services, leading to a range of potential different growth opportunities within the organization.

This position would have the opportunity to float to 23 different Retail locations!

Floating incentives include:

  • Currently no weekends are required in this position.
  • Extra hourly compensation for floating included.
  • Paid mileage when working away from home site pharmacy.

Location: Seven Lakes Pharmacy, Shoreview MN - and 23 Retail locations

Hours: 80 hours bi-weekly

Schedule: day/evening, no weekend requirement

Job Expectations:
  • Receive prescriptions from patients and gather appropriate information per department policy. Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies as assigned, including counting, pouring, and labeling prescriptions.
  • Verify insurance and resolve issues in a manner that will serve the customer’s needs. Address third party prescription questions, which may include prior authorizations, vacation supplies, dose changes, price check and drug utilization review.
  • Process new and refill prescriptions in the computer system quickly and accurately; including entering refill authorization requests and entering and calculating complex prescriptions such as compounds and injectables.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the computer system. Utilize the reporting system as necessary. Process manual prescriptions including EZ-DME, breast pumps and Worker’s Compensation, in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Complete special orders to meet customers’ needs.
  • Respond to internal and external customer questions and concerns in a professional and customer-focused manner.
  • Handle cash register transactions quickly and accurately.
  • Perform administrative duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Duties may include scheduling, maintaining pharmacy software and automation systems, bookkeeping activities, onsite training of staff and acting as a primary resource for problem solving.
  • Perform under the direction of the Pharmacist to assist with identifying and resolving patient specific medication related issues in the patient’s best interest.
  • Provide training to new and current staff on areas of expertise including computer/software, insurance plans and problems that may occur, customer service, and other processes.
  • Under the direction of the pharmacist, prepare drug therapy for patients in an accurate and timely fashion in accordance with all legal requirements, regulatory agencies, and Fairview Policy.
  • Deliver medications, supplies and equipment to patient care areas and other clinical areas as appropriate.
  • Assist in the maintenance of pharmacy to reflect a clean and well-stocked condition daily
  • Ensure each product has a POS shelf label
  • Assist in inventory control functions
  • Record invoices in department inventory control/invoice records
  • Maintain stock of inventory in assigned areas
  • Receive, unpack, and check incoming stock against invoices and place into inventory
  • Process recalls and returns when necessary
  • Help in the maintenance of pharmacy billing records

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Required License/Certification/Registration
  • Active technician registration with the Minnesota Board of Pharmacy.
Preferred Education:
  • Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program.
Preferred Experience:
  • One to three years retail and/or pharmacy experience.
