Job summary

University of Rochester invites applications for the Manager of the National Laser Users Facility (NLUF) Program and Coordinator for all external users of the Omega Laser Facility at LLE. The role partners with DOE/NNSA and Omega staff to ensure successful external-user campaigns and to grow the NLUF and LBS programs.

The successful candidate will lead communications with sponsors, broaden the portfolio of external-user research, and contribute to ongoing LLE science, with potential research

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in a relevant area of high-energy-density physics or related field.
• Demonstrated record of scientific accomplishment and leadership.
• Prior experience as a user of a large laser facility or equivalent user facility for HEDP research.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate NLUF and LBS proposals and reviews with DOE, NNSA, and lab staff.
• Act as liaison to Omega Laser Users Group (OLUG) and communicate decisions to all users.
• Develop and maintain Omega Users Guidance Documents and Training materials.
• Advise on applications of AI & ML to benefit the user community.
• Outreach to universities and industry to grow the NLUF and LBS programs.
