Job summary

Point Three Group is seeking an ML Researcher to build LLM tools for a $20B systematic hedge fund, leveraging NLP techniques and transformers to extract information and build predictive models from unstructured sources such as news, social media, and regulatory filings.

You will generate insights, backtest trading models, and develop novel NLP methods while collaborating with engineering and data sourcing teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as CS, mathematics, statistics, physics, finance, or similar STEM disciplines.
• 5+ years in a research role developing LLMs, NLP models, transformers, or other ML models.
• Proficiency in research techniques, statistical and time series analysis, and ML algorithms.
• Strong programming abilities in Python, C++, Java, or other.
• Proficiency in data analysis and working with large datasets using SQL, Pandas, NumPy, or similar libraries.
• Strong analytical, communication, and collaborative skills.
• Demonstrated track record in ML/AI with publications, projects, or presentations.

Responsibilities

• Use quantitative research techniques to design, test, and deploy systematic alpha models from unstructured data.
• Develop novel modeling techniques using NLP, ML, and neural networks.
• Collaborate with engineering and data sourcing teams to vet data vendors and ensure data quality.
• Attend leading academic conferences to stay current with latest research (ICML, ICLR, NeurIPS).
