Job summary

Wytheville Community College seeks a Nine-Month Engineering Teaching Faculty to deliver innovative instruction in Engineering for AS and AAS degrees. You will teach 100- and 200-level courses, including lab components, in traditional, hybrid, and online formats.

The role requires a Master’s degree in Engineering or related field, with 18 graduate hours, and 1–2 years of college teaching experience. The faculty will advise students and engage in recruitment activities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Engineering or related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering from a regionally accredited institution.
• 1–2 years of teaching experience in a college or university setting.
• Knowledge of pedagogical strategies and teaching methods for general education courses.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, faculty, and staff.
• Proficiency with educational technology and tools (e.g., LMS such as Canvas or Blackboard, classroom technologies, online teaching, multimedia integration, etc.).
• Unofficial transcripts of graduate level coursework.

Responsibilities

• Teach 100- and 200-level courses included in AS and AAS degrees, covering engineering foundations, design, and related math concepts.
• Build and offer courses in traditional, hybrid, and distance learning formats, including lab instruction.
• Meet assigned classes as scheduled and assess program health and learning outcomes.
• Advise students in Engineering and transfer programs and promote recruitment via student/community engagement.
