Job summary

New Narrative is seeking a Residential Support Specialist to join our Portland-area team. This full-time overnight role supports residents in mental health residential programs, helping with daily living, skills training, and community engagement while maintaining a safe, clean environment.

The RSS collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, adheres to treatment plans, assists with medication management, and documents shift notes and incidents.

Qualifications

• CPR certification is required or preferred.
• Must be able to administer CPR and Naloxone (Narcan).
• Must be comfortable working independently and capable of implementing emergency procedures and disaster plan.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage with residents to support movement toward goals and transition planning.
• Assist with activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.
• Provide hands-on support for appointments, household tasks, hygiene, and medication management.
• Participate in crisis intervention using nonviolent de-escalation techniques.
• Prepare meals, lead group activities, and facilitate community engagement.
• Adhere to Oregon Admin Rules for Home and Community Based services; maintain documentation and safety checks.
