Job summary

Staffmark Group in Romulus, MI is hiring for a Yard Hostler Non-CDL to move and position trailers across the yard overnight. You’ll operate a yard goat, back trailers into docks, and perform basic equipment checks to keep the yard safe and efficient. Minimum of 6 months of yard hostling experience required; CDL not required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of yard hostling experience within the past 3 years.
• Experience operating a yard goat or similar yard tractor.
• Strong trailer maneuvering skills in a fast-paced transportation, warehouse, or distribution environment.
• Ability to safely position trailers in tight spaces and busy yard environments.
• Flexible schedules including weekdays and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate a yard goat to safely move, stage, and position trailers throughout the yard.
• Back trailers into dock doors, staging areas, and designated parking locations.
• Perform coupling and uncoupling of trailers.
• Conduct basic equipment inspections and report any safety concerns.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, yard personnel, and dock teams to ensure efficient trailer movement.
• Follow all yard safety procedures and operational guidelines.
• Support peak-season operations by maintaining safe and productive yard flow.
