Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Dishroom Clerk in the Market Grille to help keep dishes, utensils, and the kitchen area clean and safe. This hourly role emphasizes teamwork, strong customer service, and adherence to food safety practices.

Night and weekend shifts may be required. You will work with the store team to support a positive customer experience, respond to kitchen needs, and help maintain a pleasant, efficient dining environment for guests.

Qualifications

• No formal education required; six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods in a kitchen environment and perform repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and making every interaction a positive one
• Wash department equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, and pans thoroughly and consistently
• Handle food safely and ensure the work area is always clean and neat
• Remove trash in a timely manner and take department garbage to the compactor or designated area
• Answer the telephone promptly and provide friendly, helpful service to customers who call
• Work with co‑workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy‑Vee policies and store guidelines
