Job summary

The Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT is seeking Campus Safety and Security Officers for per diem coverage up to 19 hours/week. This role supports a 24/7 campus with shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., and 12:00 a.m.

to 8:00 a.m. A non-exempt, hourly position reporting to the Director of Campus Safety and Security. Candidates should have a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, and a CT Security Guard license preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record.
• CT Security Guard license preferred or able to obtain within six months.
• Experience in law enforcement or safety/security is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Present a professional appearance and demeanor as required by policy.
• Comfortable utilizing technology including e-mail, card access, alarm systems.
• Answer phones and dispatch calls for service professionally.
• Respond to any threat to safety and security of students, staff, and families.
• Immediately respond to all emergency calls (fire, medical, burglar alarms).
• Patrol campus property, check entry points, and deter unauthorized access.
• Provide crossing guard services to ensure pedestrian safety.
