Job summary

The Hotchkiss School is seeking a part-time Safety and Security Officer with crossing guard responsibilities in Lakeville, CT. This role combines campus safety work with primary duties at a busy pedestrian crossing on Routes 44 and 112.

The position reports to the Director of Safety & Security and Campus Safety and Security Supervisor, and requires assisting with emergencies, monitoring safety conditions, and coordinating with local agencies as needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Valid and safe driver’s license required.
• CT Security Guard license preferred or obtainable within six months.
• Must pass state background check to obtain PSL or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a highly visible presence and assist pedestrians at the school crossing.
• Monitor campus safety conditions and respond to calls for service.
• Collaborate with local law enforcement, EMS, and fire personnel as needed.
• Protect students, staff, and visitors; enforce school safety rules.
