Job summary

State of Maine in Augusta seeks a seasonal Traffic Management Center dispatcher to monitor incidents and inform the public. The role involves communicating emergency and nonemergency information, dispatching units during weather, safety, and traffic events, and ensuring rapid incident response.

You'll work nights (6 PM–6 AM) on a rotating two-week schedule, with overtime opportunities. Candidates should have experience in radio dispatch or public safety, and a strong customer-service background.

Qualifications

• Experience in radio dispatch communications, public safety, or transportation requiring radio telecommunications equipment.
• Direct work experience involving public contact and customer service using radio telecommunications equipment.

Responsibilities

• View, create, modify, and enable response scenarios to assist the public and promote traffic flow.
• Evaluate and respond to major incidents, determine obstacles and coordinate responders.
• Coordinate with interagency traffic management during incidents and events.
• Receive and prioritize emergency and non-emergency requests for police, fire, and EMS to route appropriately.
• Monitor the road network and act per the TMC manual to promote safety and mobility.
• Record information in the records management system and relay updates to incoming personnel.
• Notify MaineDOT Management and Duty Officers of predefined traffic scenarios for next steps.
• Complete other Operations Tasks in the TMC as requested.
