Job summary

Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital is seeking a Monitor Technician for the Telemetry Monitor Surveillance team. The role is full-time, night shift (approximately 7pm–7am) on a 12-bed cardiac unit focused on complex cardiovascular care.

You will observe, interpret, and document EKG tracings, promptly notifying staff of dysrhythmias and ensuring telemetry equipment operates safely and effectively. A monitor tech surveillance program is required on hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a monitor technician surveillance program/course required upon hire.
• Candidates may substitute with 1 year of monitor technician surveillance experience within last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Observe, interpret, evaluate, and document EKG tracings on telemetry-monitored patients.
• Detect deviations from patient norms and notify appropriate personnel.
• Operate and utilize monitoring systems to full capacity; ensure equipment is safe and functional.
