Job summary

YAI Network in New Jersey is seeking dedicated Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting independence and safety. You will support daily living activities, implement Behavior Support Plans, monitor health, and coordinate with families and clinical staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must hold or obtain and maintain valid Driver’s License with no more than five points.
• Ability to meet essential physical demands including lifting, standing, and assisting with mobility.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in maximizing their strengths, interests, and abilities while providing emotional support and building positive relationships.
• Support people to meet personal goals and engage in respectful communications
• Provide supervision, protection, and care of individuals at all times including crisis management and safety protocols
• Implement person-centered plans and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs, ISPs, Life Plans)
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized therapeutic environment
• Assist with ADLs, personal care, meals, transportation, and community activities
• Administer medications as prescribed and manage inventory
• Coordinate medical appointments and follow-ups
• Document progress notes and communications in electronic records
• Participate in team meetings and communicate needs to team members
• Comply with HIPAA and all regulatory requirements
• Provide coverage across settings and programs as needed
• Support development of treatment plans and use approved training techniques

Education

HS diploma or its educational equivalent
