Job summary

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated by answering questions about products within the department and store.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to customers and inform them of specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness; review dates and take action.
• Stock, label and inventory department merchandise; provide customers with fresh products ordered.
• Report ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers; maintain temperature logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify management of repairs.
• Notify management of accidents and safety risks.
• Report all safety risks and illegal activity including theft or fraud.
