Job summary

Mercy Home for Boys & Girls in Chicago is seeking a Youth Care Worker for a part-time night shift. You will support residents, build trust, and reinforce daily routines in a safe, therapeutic milieu.

You will partner with the care team to implement individual plans, monitor youth well-being, and document activity and incidents. This role offers strong training and opportunities for growth within a respected community organization.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Ability to stay awake and alert during night hours and shifts.

Responsibilities

• Remain awake and aware of milieu.
• Position chair/workstation to ensure visibility of youth bedrooms.
• Conduct bedroom checks at minimum every 30 minutes; adjust to 15 minutes as needed.
• Log bed checks and youth activities accurately in the program logbook.
• Communicate timely and accurately (incidents, family contacts, logs, emails).
• Engage with youth in daily routines and activities; build therapeutic relationships.
• Develop and implement each Youth’s individual Treatment Plan.
• Collaborate with School Resources, Career Resources and After-School Program teams.
