Overview of the Role:

The Team Leader – Warehouse, oversees the day-to-day operational activity within the warehouse, leading the team of material handlers to safely execute the daily plan for shipping and receiving finished goods and production components, and maintaining an orderly an inventory management, accuracy, and control.

Responsibilities:

Supervisor – Shipping and Receiving Routinely:

Managing the team and the team’s performance:

  • Sets clear expectations for the safe execution of warehouse operations for all team members and manages the execution of tasks and performance of the team to ensure alignment with health, safety, environmental policies and procedures and models the right behaviors to ensure safety is at the forefront of everything we do.
  • Establishes and fosters a “Team” culture for employees within the department.
  • Directs team members according to in-house schedules and balances workload with staffing resources and adjusts schedules as required. Meets deadlines and adjusts to changing work demands and priorities.
  • Engages in interviewing, selecting, training, mentoring, disciplining, rewarding, and evaluating work performance of employees.
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate team members to achieve work goals.
  • Oversees all logistics of the warehouse and shipping and receiving departments including the loading and unloading activities at the docks and warehouses.
Planning the work:
  • Works closely with other departments to maintain an accurate Truck Scheduler (the schedule that dictates the timing of inbound and outbound deliveries), and monitors arrival and departure of trucks vs the daily plan in Truck Scheduler.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates warehouse and shipping and receiving schedules accordingly.
  • Attends daily production meetings as required to understand the production inflows to the warehouse and any alignment gaps with production and outbound shipments
Assuring performance
  • Inspects work-in-progress to assure quality workmanship and proper utilization of manpower and equipment for maximum level of productivity
  • Works with the Warehouse Manager to understand the budget and the levers to cost in the warehouse that can be made optimize cost within the department
  • Reviews key performance indicators with the Warehouse Manager to understand where the are opportunities for improvement in warehouse performance
  • Drives change and continuous improvement in operating processes and procedures
Working across functions
  • Monitors accounts and collaborates with Account Managers to ensure flawless OTIF performance off the dock for customers
  • Investigates and assists the department with quality issues
  • Coordinates and communicates with production and other departments as required to schedule down times for repair and maintenance of equipment
  • Analyzes reports from information systems to validate data entry accuracy and identify inventory control iss
  • Uses the Content Management System (CMS) software and trains employees in the use of CMS
  • Leads and directs along with the Manager – Safety, departmental safety meetings and communications to educate employees on specific hazards
General requirements
  • Participates in audits and writes report.
  • Uses strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Utilizes the Internet and technology for data entry and communication
  • Engages in writing emails, reports, spreadsheets and other pertinent documents relative to performing the job
  • Uses technology, software, and hardware to write reports and enter data
  • Uses forklifts, manlifts, and other heavy equipment
  • Attends and participates in safety huddles, mandatory safety stand-down meetings, and ongoing training sessions
  • Performs other job -related duties that may be assigned as needed
Qualifications:
  • Minimum: High school diploma or GED equivalent and minimum of 5 years supply chain/ warehouse operations experience (Preferred: Degree in Supply Chain or Operations Management)
  • Minimum (3) years of supervisory experience in manufacturing/ warehousing in a 24hr x 5 day operating plant with 150+ employees or more.
  • Mandatory – Valid forklift operator certificate. ZXP will train and certify the right team member
  • Required – Basic computer operating skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, and Windows).
  • Mandatory – Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts include:
    • Mechanical math aptitude
    • Add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
    • Complete basic common fraction calculations
  • Required Language, Writing and Reasoning – Must be proficient in the English (preferred: Bilingual in English & Spanish) language and able to:
  • Read, write, and understand instructions and procedure manuals
  • Write routine reports and correspondence
  • Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Speak effectively before groups of customers or Team Members
  • Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables
  • Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, and schedule formats
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective public speaking proficiencies
Physical Demand and Work Conditions:
  • Routinely uses hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Frequently lifts and or moves up to 50 pounds
  • Occasionally lifts and or moves up to 100 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities are required to perform this job. They include, but are not limited to distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Required to repair equipment in seasonal outdoor areas or warehouses that may include the use of man lifts and operating at heights, with hand tools in tight or closed spaces
  • A high volume of walking, sitting, and standing is part of the daily schedule
  • All employees are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery, and equipment, and exposure to high noise levels typical of a manufacturing plant with occasional exposure to electrical shock, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
  • A mandatory Dress Code policy applies to all employees and may be found in the Employee Handbook
