Job summary

Jersey City Medical Center, part of RWJBarnabas Health, is seeking a Unit Secretary for the Emergency Department on the night shift. You will be the central point of communication, supporting nurses and helping keep patient flow organized and efficient.

The role requires a high school diploma, clerical experience, and comfort with electronic medical records. Pay is hourly at $17.78 with full-time hours 11:00 pm–7:00 am; benefits vary by policy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Clerical/administrative/customer service experience preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors with excellent customer service.
• Answer phones, call bells, and intercoms, directing requests to the right team.
• Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges with accurate patient information.
• Enter physician orders and update patient records in EMR.
• Prepare and maintain unit documentation and reports.
• Support nursing station operations and maintain organized supplies.
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to ensure smooth workflows.
