Job summary

The MetroHealth System in Cleveland is seeking a Trauma & Surgical ICU Nocturnist Nurse Practitioner to deliver advanced, evidence‑based care to critically ill adults during night shifts. You will collaborate with trauma/critical care physicians, residents, nursing, and other teams to manage overnight cases, perform bedside procedures, adjust plans, and ensure safe handoffs.

Qualifications

• AGACNP/ACNP education and board certification requirements.
• Ohio APRN licensure and RN licensure.
• Federal DEA eligibility and state credentialing requirements.
• BLS/ATLS and other advanced life support credentials.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight management of critically ill patients in the Trauma & Surgical Intensive Care Unit.
• Collaborate with Trauma/Critical Care attending physicians, surgeons, residents, APPs, and nursing to implement individualized care plans.
• Evaluate evolving clinical concerns, respond to acute changes, and document assessments and plans during night shifts.
• Perform bedside procedures within scope (central venous catheter, arterial line, chest tube) with appropriate privileges.
• Participate in ventilator and hemodynamic management, resuscitation, and stabilization of ICU patients.
• Ensure safe handoff and continuity of care between overnight and daytime teams.
• Collaborate with pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and other disciplines to deliver comprehensive nocturnal care.
• Promote patient/family education, safety, and high-quality, patient-centered care.
