Job summary

The MetroHealth System in Cleveland is seeking a Trauma & Surgical ICU Nocturnist Nurse Practitioner to provide overnight management of critically ill surgical patients, collaborate with trauma surgeons, residents, and nursing staff, and participate in ventilator and hemodynamic management.

Applicants must hold AGACNP/ACNP masters, national certification (ANCC/AACN), Ohio APRN/RN licensure, DEA eligibility, BLS and ATLS within required timeframes.

Qualifications

• AGACNP or ACNP master's degree.
• National certification through ANCC or AACN.
• APRN/RN license with Ohio Board of Nursing.
• DEA registration eligibility.
• BLS certification (American Heart Association).
• ATLS certification within 180 days of hire.
• Advanced life support certifications as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide overnight management of critically ill patients in the Trauma and Surgical ICU.
• Collaborate with Trauma/Critical Care attending physicians, residents, APPs, nursing, and teams to implement care plans.
• Evaluate new concerns and respond to acute changes overnight.
• Interpret labs, imaging, hemodynamics to develop assessments and plans.
• Manage complex postoperative and critically ill patients across surgical specialties.
• Perform bedside procedures within scope (central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes).
• Assist in ventilator management and resuscitation as needed.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to team and ensure handoffs.
• Complete timely documentation and ensure care plan implementation.
• Collaborate with pharmacy, respiratory therapy, and other disciplines for overnight care.
