Job summary

Forward Air is seeking a skilled Trailer Mechanic to join the maintenance team. You will service trailers and vehicles, diagnose issues, and perform repairs while following DOT regulations and FA policies.

A valid driver's license and a strong tool set are required to support a fast-paced operation. You will maintain tools and work areas, log repairs in the software, and collaborate with other departments to ensure dependable service.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License required
• Prior experience with truck, trailer, and/or vehicle repair
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Desire for a long-term career with an industry leading company
• Ability to present and maintain a positive corporate image in a fast-paced environment
• Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (extended hours as required)

Responsibilities

• Evaluate status of mechanical equipment, and trailers
• Maintain equipment according to DOT regulations
• Perform minor trailer repairs
• Perform tire mounting/dismounting and repairs
• Perform minor cosmetic repairs
• Conduct various analyses and inspections to determine maintenance needs
• Maintain regular and dependable attendance
• Maintain work area, tools, and equipment
• Operate diagnostic instruments and a range of hand/electric/air tools
• Perform minor building and facility maintenance
• Enter maintenance data in software to track repairs
• Keep shop and company tools clean and in good working order
• Other duties as assigned
