Job summary

Indiana University Health System is seeking a Surgical Technologist for Ball Memorial Hospital's Obstetrics Unit. This full-time night shift role (Tue, Wed, Thu, 6:00pm–6:00am) supports the operating room team before, during, and after procedures to ensure proper equipment and sterile technique.

Key qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, NBSTSA certification within four months, and BLS. Candidates must be able to handle advanced technology and complete 15 CEUs annually as required

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma/GED.
• Requires NBSTSA certification within four months of employment.
• Requires Basic Life Support Certification.
• Requires ability to resource advanced technology.
• Requires 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
• Requires knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate needs within 12 months of employment.
• Requires knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
• Requires strict adherence to sterile field policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards.
• Ensure presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation.
• Assist in turnover of the operating room after procedures, ensuring proper routing and processing of specimens, equipment and supplies.
• Work as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other surgical personnel.
