Job summary

The Arc Mercer is seeking an experienced Shift Manager for our two-group home residential program in Mercer County, NJ. You will lead a dedicated Direct Support Professionals team, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to regulatory standards.

This part-time role requires a proactive leader who can manage shifts, oversee care plans, and respond to emergencies while promoting residents’ independence and well-being. Weekend and overnight coverage are included as described.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; advanced education preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• At least 1 year supervisory experience in a residential setting.
• Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage crises.
• Proven success leading teams and initiatives.
• Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 suspensions/points in 3 years.
• Ability to handle physical demands including lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate and train Direct Support Professionals as assigned by the Group Home Manager.
• In the absence of the Group Home Manager, act as Manager.
• Protect and promote the health, safety, and well-being of residents.
• Monitor daily staff assignments across all shifts.
• Support individualized care plans and promote resident independence.
• Ensure residents' medical, behavioral and social needs are met, including appointments.
• Monitor medication administration and maintain timely documentation.
• Maintain compliance with agency policies, licensing regulations, and DDD guidelines.
• Handle emergencies or behavioral escalations promptly and appropriately.
