Job summary

The Arc Mercer is seeking an experienced Shift Manager for our two-group home residential program in Mercer County, NJ. You will lead a dedicated Direct Support Professionals team, ensuring high-quality care and adherence to regulatory standards.

This part-time role requires a proactive leader who can manage shifts, oversee care plans, and respond to emergencies while promoting residents’ independence and well-being. Weekend and overnight coverage are included as described.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; advanced education preferred.
• Minimum 3 years' experience with individuals with developmental disabilities.
• At least 1 year supervisory experience in a residential setting.
• Strong leadership, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in documentation and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage crises.
• Proven success leading teams and initiatives.
• Valid driver’s license with no more than 3 suspensions/points in 3 years.
• Ability to handle physical demands including lifting up to 25 lbs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Shift: Thursday - 11pm-9am, Fri & Sat 11pm-7am and also weekends.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Shift Manager who will lead a dedicated team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) and ensure the delivery of high-quality care to individuals in our residential program for two group homes.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and train Direct Support Professionals as assigned by the Group Home Manager
• In the absence of the Group Home Manager, serve in the capacity of Manager.
• Protect and promote the health, safety, and well-being of residents.
• Monitor daily assignments for staff for all shifts.
• Monitor and support individualized care plans, promoting residents' independence and well-being.
• Ensure residents' medical, behavioral, and social needs are met, including accompanying them to appointments and activities as needed.
• Monitor medication administration and ensure documentation is accurate and timely.
• Maintain compliance with agency policies, licensing regulations, and DDD guidelines.
• Handle emergencies or behavioral escalations promptly and appropriately.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required; advanced education preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities highly preferred.
• At least 1 year in a supervisory role within a residential setting.
• Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in documentation and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage crisis situations effectively.
• Demonstrated success in leading teams and overseeing initiatives.
• Valid driver's license with no more than 3 suspensions and/or points in the past 3 years.
• Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting up to 25 lbs., standing, and walking for extended periods.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
