Job summary

Stepping Stone of San Diego is seeking a Residential SUD Counselor to support LGBTQIA+ clients in a 31-bed residential program. You will manage a small caseload, provide individual and group counseling, and help with relapse prevention and case management.

The role emphasizes confidentiality, adherence to DMC and HIPAA standards, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Night shifts and on-site work in a residential facility are involved.

Qualifications

• Maintain active registration through CCAPP, CAADE, or CADTP with completion within 5 years of hire.
• Ensure timely renewal of registration/certification.
• Have current CPR/First Aid Certification (or within 90 days of hire).
• ASAM Training (or within 10 days of hire).
• Cultural competency and understanding of LGBTQI+ health disparities.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of up to 4-5 residents, meeting with them at least weekly.
• Handle case management for residents at least biweekly.
• Lead individual and group SUD counseling sessions in a residential setting.
• Conduct SUD assessments and document progress, complete required paperwork on time.
• Administer medication calls following all protocols and ensure compliant medication management.
• Comply with SmartCare and CalAIMS documentation and DMC program requirements.
• Conduct and document resident drug screens and urine analysis.
• Transport residents to appointments and activities.
• Review and document resident off-site activity requests.
• Report safety concerns to the Program Manager.
• Collaborate with social workers, therapists, admin staff and medical professionals.
• Attend internal meetings and complete trainings as required.
• Maintain confidentiality and privacy standards per HIPAA and agency policies.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with DMC standards.
