Job summary

Interfaith Community Services Inc. in Escondido, CA is seeking a Registered Substance Abuse Counselor/Detox to support recovery efforts and accompany residents through programs.

You will assist certified counselors, maintain a safe environment, enforce program policies, and help with screenings, admissions, and group classes. The role requires CCAPP/CADTP/CAADE registration and at least 6 months of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be registered by CCAPP, CADTP or CAADE and credentialed within 5 years.
• County credentialing within last 3 years or pass process if hired.
• 6+ months experience in addiction treatment, social services or nonprofit setting.
• Experience with individuals facing addiction, homelessness, or mental health challenges.

Responsibilities

• Support counselors in maintaining caseload as directed.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment for clients.
• Ensure program areas are drug, alcohol and violence-free.
• Explain policies and ensure client compliance.
• Conduct screenings, admissions, and treatment planning (1:1 and group).
• Document client needs and resource referrals.
• Enter demographics into databases and logs.
• Respond to client concerns promptly and professionally.
• Maintain confidentiality per 42 CFR and related regs.
• Coordinate with staff and participate in trainings and meetings.
